WHAT IS FENG SHUI ?
Feng Shui (pronounced fung schway), is literally translated as Wind and Water. It is a system of philosophy, a practice and art that has been used for thousands of years as a method of creating balance between people and their environments. At the deepest level of understanding, Feng Shui is the interplay between the seen (our surroundings) and the unseen (energy and intention).
WHAT IS THE BAGUA?
The literal translation is “eight house.” The Feng Shui bagua (pronounced bag-wha) is a fundamental mapping tool made up of eight trigrams representing major areas of life, such as prosperity, love or health.
WHAT ARE THE FIVE ELEMENTS AND HOW ARE THEY USED IN FENG SHUI?
The Five Elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. Interaction between these elements and qi (pronounced chee) form the foundation for achieving Feng Shui balance.
WHAT IS YIN AND YANG?
Yin and yang are extreme opposites of each other. In keeping with the laws of nature, yin energy must be balanced with yang energy in order to ensure a harmonious environment.
WHAT IS QI?
Feng Shui concerns itself with the movement and containment of qi (pronounced chee) to create the most beneficial support for a person in their environment. This motivating life-force is also known as ‘vital energy’.
