Q: Please share a bit about yourself and your Feng Shui journey. How did you find FS, who did you study with, how many years have you been practicing, what was your path thus far?
A: Feng Shui …. A phrase I became familiar with in the early nineties. We would often have visitors to our home who would remark about the energy in our home, and how good it felt. Folks would say I must know a thing or two about Feng Shui? Funny though had never heard of Feng Shui, and thought ….. sounds cool, but honestly that was the extent of my reaction. A few years later we had moved to our dream home, and for reasons I could not determine at the time, the move to our dream commenced a chain of events I would never have anticipated (career, financial, relationship, health). This theme carried on for a few years, so decided it was time to learn in greater detail about Feng Shui and how I could improve or understand the energy flow at home. I read a couple of books, and felt rather confused following? While on maternity leave from work a 5 years ago, and after 3 months of being a new mom, decided it was time to take on a new challenge (like motherhood in your mid forty’s wasn’t enough of a stretch). Pursued training with Sharon Hay and the Canadian Schools of Feng Shui. Loved the schools program and Sharon made the learnings so easy to grasp. Following this realized there was so much more to learn and continued my traditional Chinese Feng Shui trainings ever since, through both the American Feng Shui Institute and other sources. Interestingly enough I learn something new through each client experience and continue to find new ways to incorporate Feng Shui in my everyday life.
Q: What do you do to uplift and maintain your personal Chi? What brings you great joy?
A: My greatest joy comes from helping others. A theme throughout my life, as an executive assistant, and through my Feng Shui, Reflexology and Reiki practice. I am at my best when aiding others. When I need a lift myself, a good book, a spending quality time with family and friends, or simply working to improve this chi at home ….. when everything is in it place, life then falls easily into place.
Q: What has been the most influential class/teacher/book or experience on your Feng Shui path?
A: For me the most influential books …..
- Feng Shui by Sharon Hay
- The Western Guide to Feng Shui – Terah Kathryn Collins
- The Principles of Feng Shui – Master Larry Sang
Q: What is your favorite success story or a-ha moment as a Feng Shui practitioner?
A: Many of my clients are solo acts where home is also office. My best a-ha moments are when my clients grasp the connection between the chi required for career efforts vs. chi requirements for their residence. The strongest a-ha moment for me personally, was learning to interpret the chi flow of our current residence …. A number of missing guas, and unbalanced areas, which greatly impacted our lives for a few years.
Q: Do you have a niche, unique talents or favorite aspect of your work?
A: My favorite aspect of Feng Shui work, is following the initial client intake, intuitively feeling what may require more attention in a given space, confirmed once I map out the clients environment and can see the energy flow in black and white. For me this is confirmation that my gut never lies and provides me with the greater confidence in sharing these learnings with the client. My gut I consider to be my personal loupan compass.
Q: If all of your Facebook posts, emails, letters and other correspondence was erased and you had to summarize one bit of wisdom to leave as your legacy, what would you say?
A: Wow …. My one bit of long winded wisdom, if it does not feel right ….. it is likely not right. Everything happens for a reason, and we need to be willing and open minded enough to continue to learn and grow. Be willing to take a risk and work to truly appreciate and understand the subtle energy of everything in life. For it is the subtle energy which is a reflection of what the universe is trying to teach us.
